Costa Maya is a small tourist region in Mexico on the border with Belize, which until recently was British Honduras. The area is generally undeveloped but has a large pier with a new and modern tourist shopping mall to accommodate cruise ships. The centre has a central plaza with saltwater pools and 'swim-up' style bars. The nearest village to the cruise port is the fishing village of Mahahual approximately 3 kilometres away with soft sand beaches, grass thatched palapas, and a coral reef a short distance off-shore called Banco Chinchorro, as well as several bars, restaurants, and shops. Costa Maya is the closest port of access to many of the lesser known Mayan ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Roatan is part of a cluster of island archipelagos situated ten to forty miles off the northern coast of Honduras. Roatan is located in between Utila and Guanaja Islands. These islands are a gem in the western Caribbean, and they are surrounded by the largest barrier reef systemin the Northern hemisphere. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef is only second in size to Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Roatan is 40 miles long and at its widest its only 5 miles wide. It's a long and narrow island. Roatan's highest point is 900 ft above sea level. Roatan has an east-west orientation, and its northern and southern coastlines are both visible from several points on the island.
