Fly to New Orleans and make your own way to the French Quarter for an overnight hotel stay
Day 2
New Orleans, USA
A further overnight hotel stay. In New Orleans you will find a flavour of the Old South with a distinct French accent, famed for its filigree wrought-iron work in the French Quarter and Mardi Gras celebrations which herald the beginning of Lent. Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), is the last day of the Carnival season as it always falls the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Shop at the beautiful river walk and take a ride on the street car line dating back to 1835. Visit Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter where the grey spire of St Louis Cathedral towers high in the air. Bourbon Street is where the music never stops and looks much as it did during the 1700s and 1800s with buildings crowding a narrow sidewalk.

Day 5
Cozumel, Mexico
This island is just 12-miles long and situated 20-minutes ferry ride from the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Cozumel is really a staging post for cruise passengers to visit mainland Mexico with its Mayan ruins at Tulum. Cozumel town is lively with its many bars and myriad of shops. Explore the Xel Ha aquatic park with its subterranean rivers, natural pools and sacred Mayan Lagoon. We found the scuba diving here to be the best in the Caribbean. The best beach is located in the Punta Sur Ecological Park.

Harvest Caye, Belize
Visit NCL's own private island to stretch out on the beach and sink your toes into the sand.
Day 7
Roatan Island, Honduras
Roatan is part of a cluster of island archipelagos situated ten to forty miles off the northern coast of Honduras. Roatan is located in between Utila and Guanaja Islands. These islands are a gem in the western Caribbean, and they are surrounded by the largest barrier reef systemin the Northern hemisphere. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef is only second in size to Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Roatan is 40 miles long and at its widest its only 5 miles wide. It's a long and narrow island. Roatan's highest point is 900 ft above sea level. Roatan has an east-west orientation, and its northern and southern coastlines are both visible from several points on the island.

Costa Maya, Mexico
Costa Maya is a small tourist region in Mexico on the border with Belize, which until recently was British Honduras. The area is generally undeveloped but has a large pier with a new and modern tourist shopping mall to accommodate cruise ships. The centre has a central plaza with saltwater pools and 'swim-up' style bars. The nearest village to the cruise port is the fishing village of Mahahual approximately three-kilometres away with soft sand beaches, grass thatched palapas, and a coral reef a short distance off-shore called Banco Chinchorro, as well as several bars, restaurants, and shops. Costa Maya is the closest port of access to many of the lesser known Mayan ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Dis-embark the ship after breakfast and make your own way to the train station for a 1345 departures on the City of new Orleans Amtrak service. Overnight hotel stay in downtown Memphis

A further overnight hotel stay. Visit the birthplace of American Soul Music, tour Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley and see where the King of Rock ‘n' Roll lived. You will also be able to see where the biggest names in Rock ‘n' Soul got their careers started, at the famous Sun Studio. Visit the inspiring museums of America Soul Music at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music and Rock ‘n' Soul museum. Entrance tickets to the following: Graceland the home of Elvis Presley, The Graceland Mansion Tour, Automobile Museum, Sincerely Elvis Museum & Elvis After Dark, Rock ‘n' Soul Museum, Music Hall of Fame, and Sun Studio.

Memphis, USA to Chicago, USA
After a full day at leisure in Memphis make your own way to the train station for a 2240 departure on the City Of New Orleans overnight sleeper service to Chicago. Accommodation on the train is in a private sleeper roomette where the cabin attendant will covert the daytime seating to cosy bunk beds.

Chicago, USA
Disembark the train after breakfast at 9am and make your own way to the hotel for two-nights' hotel stay. There is lots to see and do in Chicago: - go to the beach, shop on the Magnificent Mile, stare at the reflections in the giant Cloud Gate stainless steel bean sculpture or stand on the glass Ledge 103 floors up in the Willis Tower(formerly Sears Tower), the tallest building in the US. You can enjoy a fine dining experience with a view in the Signature Room on 95th Floor of the John Hancock Building. Route 66 starts in Chicago at the Buckingham Fountain, and there is the amazing elevated CTA metro system which defines the central Loop area of Downtown Chicago.
