Review
We sailed on a Christmas cruise -December 2019 and I was so disappointed. Viking Ocean Cruises really bugged themselves up in the marketing that I read so my expectations were high, maybe too high. I expected the ship to be decorated for Christmas - the atrium had a gingerbread house and a tree. No crackers on Christmas Day, no table decorations no feel of Christmas at all.
Food throughout was mediocre. The buffet was shocking, basically cold congealed food. Complaints to the F&B manager were listened too but it made no real difference. The restaurant food was poor as well. Steaks not cooked as requested, cheese and crackers basic and the actual Christmas dinner was a very sad offering. Not a roast potato in sight. Perhaps Vikings eat sweet potato for Christmas?
Afternoon tea was served in the pool lounge - which, due to the closed roof, smelt of chlorine. The ship was full so people were sitting on stools eating from side tables - not very classy.
Cabins were very nice (Penthouse Veranda) and the cabin steward attentive and excellent.
We would not cruise with Viking again, even the £100 credit voucher given would not entice us.
