Celebrity Silhouette

We thoroughly enjoyed our 14-night no-fly Scandinavia and Baltic Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette from 16-30 June 2019. We did our own thing in every port, other than St Petersburg where we did the ship's excursions. Our first stop was Zeebrugge, where we made the short trip to Blankenberge for a walk in the sunshine and, of course, delicious waffles! Then it was onto Copenhagen where we visited Nyhavn before going into the city for some retail therapy! Next stop was Stockholm - an overnight there so we could take our time exploring the city over two days. We really enjoyed our visit to the Nobel Museum and a local lunch of reindeer followed by waffles with cloudberry jam! We then stopped at Tallinn, another walk around a beautiful town in the sunshine followed by local delicacies in the oldest working cafe in Estonia. We then arrived in St Petersburg, another overnight stop. On our first day there, we took the ship's tour - Local Life Experience, metro ride and Kuznechny Market - which was really interesting, so nice to travel and shop like a local, albeit with a guide! On our second day in St Petersburg we took another of the ship's tours - Walk along the Nevsky Prospect with Shopping Exploration. We chose this as we had done it on a previous Baltic cruise a couple of years previously - it's the only ship's tour where you're actually left to your own devices! The coach dropped us in the centre and we then had three hours to wander on our own before rejoining everybody on the coach to go back to the ship. We went straight to the Kupetz Eliseev Food Hall for something to eat. This is the most beautiful food hall you can imagine - even if you can't get a table to eat, it's worth a visit just to see all the beautiful cakes and chocolates in the display cabinets and beautiful interior, definitely an experience we really enjoyed! Our final port was Warnemunde which is a pretty seaside town where we had a lovely, relaxed wander and delicious ice-cream sundaes! As you can see, food is a recurring theme for us, we like to stop and enjoy the local hospitality in each port we visit.
We really enjoyed our time on the Silhouette - the backstage tour of the theatre was really interesting and the sea days were relaxing, whether spent outside by the pool, on our balcony or in The Hideaway. Of course the food was delicious - and we visited our favourite place on the ship, Cafe al Bacio far too often - and the service was always friendly. Of course we booked to go back on The Silhouette, and then covid happened!

A UK cruise with no single supplement departing from Southampton. The ship is refurbed and colours are now muted, verging on dull. However, she is very clean looking and the balcony cabin was fine. ...
