Vega is a beautiful ship. Her design and furnishings are tastefully appointed. The cabins are on the smaller side but very comfortable. The bathroom is particularly well appointed and the complimentary toiletries are excellent. The staff are unfailingly pleasant, efficient and hardworking. The tour director was informative and entertaining. The excursions were well organised.
Our disappointment centres around Vegan food. We informed APT at the point of booking that one of us would require a Vegan diet and we were assured that this would not be a problem. It most definitely was. Picking pieces of meat and cheese out of salad, at tge table, in front of the guest, is offensive and is not Vegan cooking. Breakfast, because it was a buffet, was manageable. Lunch and dinner had very few Vegan dishes. Vegetarian, but not Vegan. My partner existed on soup and salad for eight nights. Food is an important part of a cruise but plant based cookery is not yet a strength on this ship.
Our other disappointment centred around the number of people who were Covid positive during the cruise and who were quarantined. Mask wearing o. Coach trips was optional. Perhaps it should not have been. All passengers had to be double vaccinated and have a booster so something was going wrong somewhere.
Having said all this I would happily go on another cruise on Vega, but not with a Vegan.
