Norwegian Encore, Alaska

Our Alaskan cruise was great, the ship we found disappointing. The service on board was very mixed some good some bad. The food was ok nothing to shout about, buffet was like a cattle market at times and food was cold on some occasions other passengers did point this out & were told ' well you are in Alaska'. Did a couple of the speciality restaurants - Cagneys which was excellent & Le Bistro which was the worst meal I personally ate on board. The entertainment on board - The choir of man show was excellent other than that the entertainment was pretty poor. We have been on NCL previously & entertainment was some of the best we had seen so this was disappointing. We had a balcony cabin which was clean & tidy and plenty of room for what we wanted & was a must for Alaska due to the beautiful views. The Observatory deck was lovely just a shame that people found that lying around on settees & walking around with no shoes on or saving areas & spreading themselves out so that you could not sit down acceptable. Something was put on the daily news paper however I never once saw any staff tackle this problem, this was especially frustrating when it was a sea day & you had nowhere to sit. On the whole Alaska was a great experience we did book trips from off the ship which were pricey but the organisation of getting people off again was questionable, no organisation especially at Juneau where a mass of people where on stairwells & shoving & pushing to get off the ship. NCL need to look at their processes for disembarking people in a safe & timely manner!!! Disembarkation day back in Seattle was a different story, very efficient & so was the transfer to the airport that we booked with the ship.
