This was our first cruise after pandemic. We were a little nervous being around so many people. Flights were with Jet2, i felt i had to book seats as i need an isle seat for a mobility issue. Extortionate price charged by P &O!
Arrival in Tenerife was a bit of a fiasco, no P & O staff at the airport to give us any direction, TUI Reps advised us where to go.
Once at the port everything went very smoothly and cases were delivered to our cabin timely.
The cabin was fine a little tired in places but very clean. The cabin steward Monica was wonderful.
Dining in the buffet restaurant was to be avoided. People were not cleaning hands despite staff members observing and handing out trays and cutlery. it was only open one side and far too many people in the area. No seats, table clearing very slow. The food was very good in the main restaurant. The only downside being we requested a table of 6, most of the time especially the 2nd week there were just the 2 of us sat on a table for 8. Not conducive to a pleasant dining experience
Sunbeds were reserved and not used a lot of the time causing conflict. Nothing was done by staff members. Entertainment was pretty good most of the time although the air conditioning was fierce making some of the bars empty, far too cold to sit and watch the artists, many people were complaining. We did not take any organised tours, they were all easily manageable under our own steam.
All in all i think the staff all worked exceptionally hard, yes cruising has changed since the pandemic but everything has changed. We enjoyed our cruise once we decided ourselves not to use the buffet at all and chose the warmer venues. We will certainly be sailing with P & O again in the near future.
