Azamara Journey, Africa

Not good. Diarrhoea affected over half of passengers who HADN'T been consuming the ' wrong ' food and drink onshore as the cruise company suggested. Many were very poorly for most of the cruise.
We weren't allowed to serve ourselves at the buffet counters so we didn't really get what we ideally would have chosen ourselves. Special hygiene measures
were introduced with reception and fitness centre and entertainment staff dishing out even cornflakes !
We were looking forward to seeing the ports but unless we bought extortionately priced shore excursions ($100 each for a 2 hour walking tour! We booked our own shore excursions at a quarterof the onboard prices for better quality trips too.)our only option was to be taken by shuttle bus to some outlying Shopping Mall !!! We were told it was dangerous to walk the streets at every destination- Port Elizabeth, East London, Durban, Richards Bay.
The organisation on board was dreadful .
Many of the ' senior' crew didn't have good English.Queries were often misunderstood. On board customs checks were just a debacle.
