Borealis, Northern Europe

This was the first time we had cruised with Fred Olsen, but the convenience of going from Liverpool - only an hour and half drive from home - plus the destination to the Arctic in search of the Northern Lights made us book.
CPS parking took us by mini bus from the car park to the ship and embarkation was quick. We had to show a COVID negative cartridge from a test taken no more than 24 hours before, but that was quite reassuring in a way.
Our sea view cabin on deck 2 was spacious and very well positioned, mid-aft, so easy to get to the dining room and lounges. The dining room ceiling was beautiful with changing light colours like the Northern Lights.
Staff were all friendly and helpful; the shows were good with a mix of music, drama , comedians and magic.
We enjoyed talks on the Sami people, the Vikings, wildlife and the places we visited. We also had a professional photographer on board who gave us tips on how to get the best shots of the Aurora Borealis should we be lucky enough to see them. Wow! Were we lucky! The Northern Lights danced around our ship for five nights in a row. Amazing and we didn’t have to pay for an expensive shore trip to see them!
A wonderful adventure cruise and we will definitely consider cruising with Fred Olsen again.
