Queen Mary 2, North America

Having previously travelled on the Queen Elisabeth we thought we would try Queen Mary 2. We enjoyed the cruise despite one or two slight disappointments. We had originally booked a table for 6 but because of covid worries we changed it to a table for 2. This unfortunately meant we had to use freedom dining whereas we prefer to sit at them same table with the same waiters every day. We had to miss Sydney because of the hurricane and damage to the town itself. We particularly loved Boston and Halifax. New York immigration takes forever too and you have to get off and go through immigration even if you don’t want to visit New York. We did however and took the ferry ($4 per person) to Wall Street and walked to the 9/11 memorial. Allow plenty time for the ferry back. It can only take 150 passengers and we must have 154th in the queue so we had to wait for the next one. We were a bit disappointed with the layout of the ship compared with the QE. The queens room was awkward to get to. We loved the planetarium shows. I can’t comment on the theatre shows because we don’t bother with those though others we spoke to seemed to enjoy them. Overall a great cruise with the standard of service we expect from Cunard.

I love the formality of this cruise line, dressing for dinner etc. Only wish there was a more open style of dining which is only available to club balcony grade and above

The cruise was a 'follow the sun' cruise. We sailed to the Bay of Biscay and went up and down several times. Dinner each night was exemplary as was the entertainment. The lack of a buffet was the rea...
