Avalon View, Danube

The ship was beautifully fitted out and the accommodation was more than adequate despite being on the lower deck. Food was not as good as I have experienced on other cruise lines but was acceptable. The crew were polite, professional and friendly.
I’m hindsight, the choice of cruise was probably not the best as it was adventure and active. However the docking points were not the best if you were not inclined to choose the activity excursions. Apart from Vienna which was glorious.
Because it was early in the season the ship had only one third of its full passenger capacity and we were the only English people on board. The rest being American. Evening entertainment was sadly lacking with most passengers not using the lounge. (Not the fault of the cruise line.).
Nevertheless, we did enjoy our holiday and rate Avalon highly overall.
