Cruise Itinerary
Day 1
Trieste
Nestled on the sparkling shores of the Adriatic, Trieste beckons with a captivating blend of maritime grandeur and cosmopolitan charm. Its illustrious past as a bustling port city echoes through its winding streets, where tales of trade and conquests whisper through the centuries. Trieste's mild Mediterranean climate, tempered by the Adriatic Sea, offers a serene respite for cruisegoers seeking solace away from the bustling tourist hubs. Here, authenticity reigns supreme, with hidden gems awaiting discovery around every corner, from quaint cafes serving local delicacies to historic landmarks steeped in intrigue. As a gateway to Eastern Europe, Trieste's bustling Piazza Unità d'Italia stands as one of the largest sea-facing squares in Europe, a testament to the city's enduring maritime legacy.

Day 3
Dubrovnik
Nothing can prepare you for your first sight of Dubrovnik. Lying 216 km (135 miles) southeast of Split and commanding a jaw-dropping coastal location, it is one of the world's most beautiful fortified cities. Its massive stone ramparts and fortress towers curve around a tiny harbor, enclosing graduated ridges of sun-bleached orange-tiled roofs, copper domes, and elegant bell towers. Your imagination will run wild picturing what it looked like seven centuries ago when the walls were built, without any suburbs or highways around it, just this magnificent stone city rising out of the sea.In the 7th century AD, residents of the Roman city Epidaurum (now Cavtat) fled the Avars and Slavs of the north and founded a new settlement on a small rocky island, which they named Laus, and later Ragusa. On the mainland hillside opposite the island, the Slav settlement called Dubrovnik grew up. In the 12th century the narrow channel separating the two settlements was filled in (now the main street through the Old Town, called Stradun), and Ragusa and Dubrovnik became one. The city was surrounded by defensive walls during the 13th century, and these were reinforced with towers and bastions in the late 15th century. From 1358 to 1808 the city thrived as a powerful and remarkably sophisticated independent republic, reaching its golden age during the 16th century. In 1667 many of its splendid Gothic and Renaissance buildings were destroyed by an earthquake. The defensive walls survived the disaster, and the city was rebuilt in baroque style.Dubrovnik lost its independence to Napoléon in 1808, and in 1815 passed to Austria-Hungary. During the 20th century, as part of Yugoslavia, the city became a popular tourist destination, and in 1979 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the war for independence, it came under heavy siege. Thanks to careful restoration, few traces of damage remain; however, there are maps inside the Pile and Ploče Gates illustrating the points around the city where damage was done. It’s only when you experience Dubrovnik yourself that you can understand what a treasure the world nearly lost

Day 5
Santorini
Set amidst the azure waters of the Aegean Sea, Santorini beckons with its legendary tales of volcanic eruptions and ancient civilizations. Its iconic whitewashed buildings perched atop dramatic cliffs paint a picture of timeless beauty. The Mediterranean climate blesses visitors with warm summers and mild winters, making it a year-round destination for sun-seeking travelers. Escape the tourist crowds by exploring charming villages like Oia, where narrow streets wind through traditional Cycladic architecture. Don't miss the opportunity to taste the island's famed Assyrtiko wine, cultivated from grapes grown in volcanic soil, creating a unique and unforgettable flavor profile.
Day 6
Rhodes
Rhodes, once home to the Colossus, one of the ancient world's wonders, is a treasure trove of scenic beauty and architectural marvels. The island's climate is a perfect blend of warm sunshine and gentle sea breezes, ideal for exploring its abundant natural and architectural sights. Cruise lines like Celebrity Cruises and MSC make a point of showcasing Rhodes not just for its sun-soaked beaches but for its less frequented villages and ancient ruins that capture the essence of the island’s past splendor. A unique attraction here is the Palace of the Grand Master, a medieval castle that was once the stronghold of the Knights of St. John, offering visitors a glimpse into the chivalric and strategic importance of this island at the crossroads of civilizations.
Day 7
Heraklion (Iraklion), Crete
Bustling with vibrant energy, Heraklion beckons with tales of ancient glory. Once the heart of the Minoan civilization, this coastal city echoes with the whispers of its storied past. The Mediterranean climate offers a balmy embrace, ideal for leisurely strolls through its labyrinthine streets. Far from the trodden paths, Heraklion reveals the soul of Greece, where locals gather in tavernas to share stories over meze and ouzo. Amidst the sun-drenched landscapes, the Palace of Knossos stands as a testament to Minoan ingenuity, inviting travelers to unravel its mysteries and bask in the glory of antiquity.

Day 9
Istanbul
Welcome to Istanbul, where the echoes of ancient empires resound through the city's majestic skyline. Here, amidst the confluence of Europe and Asia, cruise lines dock to unveil the treasures of this historic metropolis. Blessed with a Mediterranean climate and vibrant energy, Istanbul offers a sensory feast for those seeking an authentic escape from the ordinary. From bustling bazaars to tranquil mosques, the city showcases the real essence of Turkey, where tradition and modernity intertwine. And did you know? Istanbul is the only city in the world that straddles two continents, bridging the gap between East and West with its timeless allure.

Day 11
Athens
Athens, the cradle of democracy, where philosophers like Plato and Aristotle shaped the foundations of Western thought, offers more than just a stroll through ancient ruins. With a climate that boasts mild winters and warm, sunny summers, it's ideal for year-round exploration. The city offers an authentic glimpse into the Greek way of life, away from the typical tourist traps, with bustling local markets and traditional cafes hidden in plain sight among the city's modern hustle. Cruise lines such as Norwegian and Royal Caribbean offer tailored excursions to iconic spots like the Acropolis, yet it's the lesser-known Philopappos Hill that provides breathtaking views of the entire cityscape, including a direct line of sight to the Parthenon, adding a unique layer to the visitor experience.
