Day 4
Keelung (Chilung)
With the glittering lights of Taipei - a futuristic metropolis of culture and ideas - sparkling nearby, Keelung is the first calling point for many visitors arriving in Taiwan. While this port city essentially serves as Taipei's ocean gateway, you shouldn’t be too hasty in dashing off to Taipei's neon-lit magic – first it’s well worth spending some time exploring the famous glowing night market, which hums with life each evening and is famous for its local seafood.
Day 5
Hualien
One of the world’s biggest producers of marble, Hualin is the largest city on the east coast of Taiwan. Sitting on the mountain-fringed plains just south of the Taroko Gorge, it is a great location from which to explore Taroko National Park.
Day 6
Miyako Islands
Day 7
Naha, Okinawa
Day 9

Day 10
Kobe
Kobe, known globally for its luxurious beef but cherished locally for its scenic harbor and multicultural heritage, is a haven for travelers who relish both culinary excellence and serene cityscapes. The city's temperate climate, marked by crisp, cool winters and warm, humid summers, complements its relaxed atmosphere, making it ideal for those seeking a blend of urban exploration and natural beauty. From the vibrant Nankinmachi Chinatown to the tranquil Nunobiki Herb Gardens, Kobe is a tapestry of diverse influences and green escapes, crowned by its panoramic night views from Mount Rokko.

Day 12
Nagoya
Nagoya, where tradition and innovation intersect, is ideal for travelers who relish the blend of historical depth and modern technology. This hub of Japan’s manufacturing legacy, known for the samurai heroics of Oda Nobunaga, enjoys a humid subtropical climate, providing clear, distinct seasons that frame its iconic cherry blossoms and fiery autumn leaves in the vast Atsuta Shrine grounds. The city’s commitment to future technologies, displayed in its world-class robotics at the Toyota Museum, mirrors a past deeply rooted in craftsmanship, offering a truly authentic insight far from the tourist mainstream. Notably, Nagoya Castle’s golden shachihoko statues proclaim its regal history and resilience.
Day 13
Shimizu
The salt and pepper cone of Japan's most famous natural landmark won’t fail to take your breath away, as it soars into the sky in a vision of spectacular symmetry. Make sure your camera is fully prepared before you dock in Shimizu’s port, where unparalleled views of the extraordinary Mount Fuji’s dramatic peak await. Take your time to soak up one of Japan's most iconic views, before dipping your toes into the rest of what this destination of tranquil temples has to offer. While there’s a bustling fish market, and a charming amusement park waiting close to the port, most new arrivals immediately set off in pursuit of the best views of Mount Fuji, or to see the stunning panorama on offer from the heights of the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. Take the cable car up to the top, to experience the tranquillity around the forested shrine, and to enjoy its stunning architecture of deep scarlets and gleaming golds. You can also enjoy heart-stopping views out over the Bay of Suruga, and the tea plantations below.
Day 14
Tokyo
Tokyo, a city that masterfully blends the ultramodern with the traditional, offers a vibrant urban tapestry that is a treasure trove for explorers and cultural enthusiasts alike. Known for its dynamic climate with distinct seasonal changes, Tokyo provides a unique backdrop for the cherry blossoms of spring and the fiery leaves of autumn. This city goes beyond the neon lights and skyscrapers; it’s a place where ancient temples stand in the shadows of towering buildings, offering a true slice of Japanese life. Fun fact: Tokyo's Sumida River hosts one of the oldest and most spectacular fireworks festivals in Japan.
