We begin our voyage on the Halkidiki Peninsula of mainland Greece, before setting sail for two of the nation's famous islands – glamorous Mykonos, beloved by the jetset, and Santorini, with its stunning landscape of whitewashed houses clinging to the cliffs around the mouth of a sunken volcano. Next, we sail for Heraklion on Crete, to uncover the story of the ancient Minoan civilization at the Palace of Knossos. A leisurely day at sea takes us to Italy to see Lipari, the largest of the volcanic Aeolian islands, and savor Naples’ culinary delights – not just pizza – before arriving in the mighty capital of Rome.
