Highlights of the Netherlands and Germany
Explore three Dutch cities before cruising through the heart of Central Europe, defined by its ancient castles, cultural cities and natural beauty, on this all-inclusive 8-night river cruise aboard Spirit of the Moselle.
Spend a full day in the vibrant Dutch capital Amsterdam, with an included cruise along the city’s historic canals, and time to discover some of the attractions, such as the Museum Quarter, independently. Sail overnight to Rotterdam for another day of exploration. An included excursion here takes you through the city by coach, stopping at the historic Delfshaven district, the Cube Houses and the Markthal for a closer look on foot.
Continue overnight to arrive early in Nijmegen, which has a charming city centre of cobbled streets lined with street cafes. Leave the Dutch waterways and flat landscapes of Holland behind as Spirit of the Moselle cruises into Germany and onto the Rhine. Enjoy a day in the Rhineland city of Cologne where the cobbled streets house baroque palaces, medieval churches and the city’s Gothic cathedral.
Then sail overnight to the classic wine town of Boppard, which features medieval fortifications and half-timbered houses. Enjoy an included walking tour with a local expert before cruising through the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine Gorge to the wine town of Rüdesheim.
Spend a morning exploring independently, perhaps take a walk along the Drosselgasse, a narrow cobbled street lined with wine taverns, before relaxing on board during the cruise to Mainz. A full day here gives you time to see the city’s medieval market squares and Romanesque cathedral.
