Spend a relaxing afternoon on board as Spirit of the Rhine sails through the UNESCO-listed scenery of the Middle Rhine Gorge, passing the fabled Lorelei Rock en route to Boppard. This classic Rhineland wine town has extensive Roman remains, medieval fortifications and half-timbered buildings. Continue to Cologne where you have a day to stroll the cobbled streets and see the baroque architecture, medieval churches and Gothic cathedral. Then, cruise through the evening and overnight into the Netherlands, where a trio of cities await. Set on the Waal River, Nijmegen has charming cobbled streets lined with vibrant street cafes overlooked by the distinctive tower of St Stephen’s church. Continue to Rotterdam for another day of exploring. See some of the city’s sights on an included morning excursion by coach, alighting at the historic Delfshaven district, the Cube Houses and the Markthal, for a closer look on foot. Sail overnight to Amsterdam, where highlights include the Museum Quarter and floating flower market. Enjoy an included morning canal cruise to the heart of the city.
