Steeped in a philosophy that innovation and imaginationcontribute to a remarkable cruise vacation, Royal Caribbean has onceagain raised the bar with the announcement of the latest amenities onits newest ship, Oasis of the Seas. Launching in late 2009, Oasis ofthe Seas will be the world%u2019s largest and most revolutionary shipintroducing the cruise line%u2019s new neighborhood concept, which willprovide passengers the opportunity to seek out relevantexperiences based on their personal styles, preferences or moods.Boardwalk, will be a breathtaking space for families inspired by thenostalgic seaside piers of yesteryear; the first amphitheater at sea,AquaTheater, will celebrate water with the largest freshwater poolfound on a ship offering a full spectrum of activities and performancesfor guests; and the urban living concept will take to the high seaswith the introduction of industry-first loft suites offering expansiveocean views and luxury amenities. Enhancements to the cruise line%u2019ssignature Royal Promenade will include a new design allowing guests tohave a physical connection with the neighborhood above, Central Park,as natural light cascades down from the sky through the Crystal Canopysculptured glass domes. Other surprises include two rock-climbing wallsand the first zip-line at sea suspended nine decks above Boardwalk.
Theannouncement of the new neighborhoods adds to the previously revealedneighborhood, Central Park, which was introduced in April. Reminiscentof the piers that dot the coast of England and amusements parks such asConey Island, the elements of Boardwalk will dynamically engage theentire family in classic fun %u2013 whether young or just young at heart %u2013with eateries, retail outlets and carnival games. An original,handcrafted carousel %u2013 the first at sea %u2013 will be the centerpiece ofthis vibrant neighborhood. AquaTheater, created to offer two uniqueexperiences, will allow guests to swim in the theater%u2019s magnificentkidney-shaped pool, relax on sun loungers located on tiered platformssurrounding the pool, and even take SCUBA lessons in the afternoon. Atnight, it will deliver a complete sensory experience playing on theelement of surprise as audience members witness the venue come alivewith heart-pounding theatrical performances featuring dramaticacrobatics, synchronized swimming, water ballet, and professionalhigh-diving, as well as elaborate fountain shows synchronized to musicand lights.
The introduction of 28 contemporary two-level loftsuites will redefine cruise ship accommodations with vibrant,ocean-inspired colors in a sophisticated and spacious setting. Neverbefore seen at sea, the lofts will feature spectacular views of theocean with floor-to-ceiling, double-height windows to ensure the viewwill be enjoyed from each and every vantage point. The signature loftswill round out a new portfolio of 37 categories of accommodationoptions many with views unique to Oasis of the Seas.

Additionsto Royal Promenade, the heart of the ship, will include a mezzaninelevel that overlooks the main promenade below. The Royal Promenade willbe home to a vast array of shopping, dining and entertainment optionsincluding, the Rising Tide bar, the first moving bar at sea, which willtraverse three decks and allow cruisers to enjoy a cocktail as theyslowly ascend into Central Park. A focal point will be a giant copperglobe sculpture built into the facade above the Globe and Atlas Pub,which will %u201Ccrack open%u201D to create a spectacular, surprise element forguests, as it unfurls on hinged hydraulics and becomes a bridgeplatform for performances. Other options include the cruise line%u2019spopular Schooner Bar and Champagne Bar; the new Mondo Coffee Bar;Focus, a photo shop and gallery; and the ever-popular Boleros Latindance club.

When she launches in late 2009, Oasis of the Seaswill be the largest and most revolutionary cruise ship in the world. Anarchitectural marvel at sea, she will span 16 decks, encompass 220,000gross registered tons (GRT), carry 5,400 guests at double occupancy,and feature 2,700 staterooms. Oasis of the Seas will be the first shipto tout the cruise line%u2019s new neighborhood concept of seven distinctthemed areas, which includes Central Park, Boardwalk, and the RoyalPromenade.
