CMV expands itineraries from Tilbury and announces celebrity sailing

Cruise & Maritime Voyages are increasing their departures from the London Cruise Terminal (Tilbury) for the 2015/16 cruise season.

Magellan, which has a passenger capacity of 1250 guests, will be home-ported in Tilbury this year and will offer regular departures commencing on 15 March with a 12-night maiden voyage in search of the Solar Eclipse and the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). This cruise will call at ports in Invergordon (Scotland), Lerwick (Shetland Islands), Reykjavik (Iceland) and the Faroe Islands. Prices for this voyage start at £899 per person based on two sharing an inside cabin, subject to availability.

Sister ship Marco Polo, which has a passenger capacity of 800 guests, will also be home ported in Tilbury and will celebrate her 50th anniversary with sailings throughout the year. Her first voyage of the season will be on 16 February on a 14-night voyage in search of the Northern Lights. The vessel will call at ports in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Alesund (Norway), Tromso (Norway), Alta (Norway), Honningsvåg (Norway), Sortland, Vesteralen Islands (Norway), Åndalsnes (Norway) and Bergen (Norway). It will also cruise past the Svartisen Glacier (Norway) and along the Romsdalfjord (Norway). Prices for this voyage start at £799 per person based on two sharing an inside cabin, subject to availability.

Forth Ports, the owners of London Cruise Terminal Tilbury, have invested in renovating the cruise terminal to enhance the guest experience.

“We have helped Tilbury re-establish itself by being the first cruise line to start regular year-round departures from the Essex port some five years ago. Our on board questionnaires clearly indicate that the convenience of departing from Tilbury is a major reason for people choosing to cruise with CMV.” Said Mike Hall, Head of Marketing at CMV.

The cruise line has also recently announced a celebrity line-up for their six-night European Rivers & Medieval Cities itinerary on-board Marco Polo departing on 24 October 2015.

John Challis who played the character Terrance Aubrey Boyce (Boycie) in Only Fools and Horses and Sue Holderness who played his wife Marlene will be on-board as will Jeffrey Holland, one of the stars from Hi-De-Hi and You rang M’Lord, as well as Sue Hodge who played the character Mimi Labonq in Allo, Allo.

CMV will present the four celebrities in a television interview-style format together with behind the scene glimpses. Prices for this voyage start at £479 per person based on two sharing an inside cabin, subject to availability.
