From Amsterdam to Budapest, TUI Isla visits many icons of Europe
With 16 days to casually explore some of the most showstopping waterfront cities in Europe, TUI Isla’s ‘Icons of Europe’ sailing promises to be a memorable one.
We start in Amsterdam, with its magical canal network and almost as many museums as bicycles (and we all know how much the Dutch love their bikes).
From there, our journey ventures into Germany with highlights in Cologne (with its 509-step tower offering spectacular panoramic views), Bamberg (an excellent example of a Bavarian old town), and Nuremberg (for an arresting journey through Europe’s history).
A total of nine ports in Germany are followed by stops in Austria and Slovakia before disembarking in Budapest, Hungary.
Explore the Rhine onboard TUI Isla
The Rhine is the mainstay of European river cruising, with a broad variety of town and city ports along its meandering north-south route.
Sail onboard TUI Isla for eight days in March 2024 on her ‘Rhine Explorer’ itinerary for a taste of the best of this popular waterway.
Commencing with an overnight stay in Amsterdam, we enjoy charmingly scenic sailing through the southwest of the Netherlands before tracing the west of Germany, with stops in Cologne, Koblenz and Speyer (one of Germany’s oldest cities and the final resting place of many a German Emperor).
A day across the border into France gives us a taste of life in Strasbourg – a city that celebrated for its imposing, Gothic cathedral.
The cruise draws to a close with a (potential wine-filled) day in Breisach, Germany, followed by a final day in Basel, Switzerland – known for its historically-authentic old town.
A Rhineland New Year
Where were you last New Year’s Eve? We think you can do one better this year with a seven-night cruise along the Rhine, ringing in 2024 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
TUI Isla offers a ‘Rhineland New Year’, departing Frankfurt on December 29, 2023 and easing back into Frankfurt a ‘whole year later’ (well, you know what we mean). Enjoy New Year’s Eve in Cologne, perhaps touring the cathedral, and start the new year off with stops in Dusseldorf, Bonn, Koblenz and Mainz.
Bavarian Beer Cruise
Raise your glass for a seven-night beer-themed river cruise through Germany’s most charming towns, with so many opportunities to sip something local along the route.
TUI’s ‘Bavarian Beer Cruise’ is the best week of the year for true German beer lovers, with the highlights of Wertheim and Seinsheim Castles, as well as the UNESCO-listed old town of Regensberg.
Sail through Germany’s celebrated wine regions, along multiple waterways, on this hopping cruise (yep, pun intended) from Frankfurt to Passau, on the border with Austria.
