Ship of the month: Celebrity Ascent
Launched in Miami on December 3, Ascent is the fourth and latest of Celebrity’s acclaimed Edge-class ships, joining sister vessels Celebrity Edge, Apex and Beyond
As long as three football pitches, Celebrity Ascent features the line’s trademark ‘Magic Carpet’ – a cantilevered pod that moves up and down the side of the ship – as well as The Retreat, an exclusive resort-style enclave.
Celebrity Ascent will begin her debut season sailing out of Florida to the Bahamas, the Eastern Caribbean and Mexico before relocating to the Mediterranean for a programme of voyages around the coasts of France, Italy, Greece and Türkiye in summer 2024.
The Grand Plaza
The breathtaking Grand Plaza is the beating heart of the ship – a dazzling, triple-height space inspired by the piazzas of Italy. Here you’ll find the ship’s speciality restaurants, continental-style Café al Bacio and the ever-popular Martini Bar.
Dining
Celebrity Ascent offers an amazing 32 restaurants, cafés and bars. Speciality venues include Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud for intimate fine dining, Raw on 5 for sushi and sashimi, and Eden Restaurant with its innovative plant-based tasting menu.
Cabins
You don’t have to stay in a suite to enjoy luxury accommodation. On Celebrity Ascent, even the entry-level Inside Staterooms come with a king-size bed, cashmere mattress and touchscreen automation to adjust everything from the air-conditioning to lighting
Pools
Fancy a dip? The ship’s generously sized main pool is flanked by two ‘martini glass’ Jacuzzis, while suite guests have access to an elegant and exclusive pool at The Retreat. Splash out on an Edge Villa suite, and you even get your own private plunge pool.
Wellbeing
Featuring state-of-the-art MLS Quartz treatment tables, The Spa is a one-stop shop for wellness and beauty. The adults-only SEA Thermal Suite has a range of aquatherapy environments- from aromatic steam to tropical rain showers.
The Theatre
A contemporary venue designed to blur the line between audience and performers, The Theatre immerses you in an entertainment experience that’s as innovative as the space itself. Take your seats, ladies and gentlemen, and expect the unexpected.
