Expect sandy beaches, whitewashed houses nestled in seafront villages – and nothing less. A land and sea adventure brings you unlimited exploration that has never been easier.

Cosmos, known for shedding light on the world’s most beautiful and fascinating places through extensive tours, was created nine decades ago – so you can be sure you are in experienced hands.

Think local guides, hand-picked hotels, seamless transportation and local favourites, which allow you to get to know a destination like never before.

And Greece is the perfect destination to take advantage of a land and sea adventure, bringing you not only to gorgeous places but also to create moments and memories to last a lifetime.

This tour boasts six different UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 14 breakfasts, four lunches and seven dinners.

So, let’s dive into one of our favourite land and sea offerings from Cosmos, the 'Greece & Aegean Islands Cruise’

Land adventures

Spread across 15 days, this tour is a handy roundtrip from Athens and your exploration starts straight away, as all you have to do is check into your hotel in the Greek capital and the rest of the day is free.

Of course, you won’t be left completely alone, as you can take advantage of your handy CosmosGO app – which is a digital travel guide and journal all in one. You’ll also meet your local host in the evening.

Start your second day with an included breakfast, and either please yourself wandering narrow streets and lively tavernas or opt for a day cruise to explore the stunning islands of Aegina, Hydra and Poros.

If you opted to take it easy and relax by the water during your first two days (we’d do the same), then you can rest easy that you haven’t missed out on exploring Athens, as your third day includes a guided tour of the highlights of this ancient capital.

And the sightseeing doesn’t stop there, with day four bringing you to the hilly countryside of Epidaurus, with the main attraction being the ancient open-air theatre. Later on, you’ll embark on a guided excursion to Mycenae, with impressive ruins and a fascinating museum depicting classical Greek culture.

In fact, days five to nine include a plethora of sightseeing, food tasting, museum-wandering and scenery-gazing. You’ll visit the likes of Olympia, where you can deep dive into the history of the Olympic Games, and Delphi, which is known for being the place where the oracle of Apollo spoke as well as possessing beautiful landscapes.

Essentially, you’ll be able to take your time to learn about each destination, whether this is through an included guided tour, optional tour or by yourself. Just picture yourself discovering Meteora, a quaint cluster of Christian-Orthodox monasteries set amongst rising rock formations.

Day 10 is embarkation day, where you will hop onboard your ship to sail a roundtrip from Athens – you can appreciate the simple things in life, admire the glittering Aegean Sea and soak up the sun.

You’ll arrive in Mykonos in the evening, trust us you’ll be able to spot the white-washed houses accented with blue from miles away. Admire the landscape of windmills and chapels and appreciate the ease of having breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard.

Your second day onboard encapsulates two ports of call – Kusadasi and Patmos. The first is located on the Turkish coast and features the Greek, Roman and Byzantine excavations of Ephesus. The Greek island of Patmos is where St.John the Divine wrote Revelation and is well worth a visit.

Appreciate the beauty of Rhodes, Crete and Santorini on your third and fourth day onboard before disembarking in Athens on day 14 of your overall trip. It’s a relaxed trip so you don’t have to worry about packing your things just yet, as the trip ends on day 15 after breakfast.
